Our friends Hilary and Jonathan organized a hike this morning for a bunch of kids their daughter's age (5 years old). We decided to go, figuring that as a tall 3 year old, Paprika could keep up.
Well, Paprika did keep up, but I couldn't! I was carrying Ginger in the Ergo trying to navigate some very steep terrain and I got pretty far behind the group. Mr. Mustard and Paprika came back for me, and we ended up doing the hike just the four of us.
It felt like we were in the middle of the wilderness, that we might run into a wild bobcat or a rattlesnake. That is, until...our trail intersected with a golf course! Then, instead of worrying about wild bobcats and rattlesnakes, we started worrying about stray golfballs.
;-)
It was definitely an urban hike, and we saw parts of LA that we hardly ever see. The bottom of a freeway looks a bit like a cathedral from some angles. Do you think 20,000 years from now people will be in awe that we "primitive humans" could construct such impressive things? It is just a freeway, but it is kinda pretty, too.
So, that was our big adventure today. Exploring new places, and seeing new things. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday!

I've always had a strange fascination with freeway overpasses. I think they're beautiful.
