The 50 Year Storm

Do you remember that scene from the movie, Point Break? You know, The 50 Year Storm? Well, that's what we're gearing up for here in LA right now. It's going to rain all week, and yesterday it rained and was cold and drizzly and wet. Definitely not beach weather.

But someone really wanted to go to the beach. And the weather wasn't too bad when we left home. So guess where we went? Yup, the beach!

We went back to our fave Malibu spot.

Paprika was soooo excited and couldn't be persuaded to wear a sweater or anything warm.

I was worried that people might judge us for not dressing Paprika in warmer clothes. But it turned out that the only other people crazy enough to go to the beach yesterday were the surfers. And they weren't judging!

Ginger was snuggled up super warm against me. When it really started to pour, Ginger and I hid out under the awning of one of the mega-million dollar beach houses on the coastline. It was vacant, so I didn't feel bad! I don't think anyone would begrudge a 6 month old (now 7 month old!!!) baby some shelter in a storm.

As you can see, Mr. Mustard had to be the real sport as Paprika raced in and out of the water. She wanted to swim, swim, swim in that icy water!

Mr. Mustard said he could not feel his feet.

This did not detour Paprika!

She found a sea star washed way up on the beach and returned it to its home in the water. She was pretty excited about that!

After Paprika was fully drenched, we talked her into going back home, which was good because Mr. Mustard and I had a date night! We saw Avatar 3D and had a really wonderful dinner out at a lovely neighborhood restaurant. We were gone 5 hours on our date, and most of the time was spent at the movie. Was it just me, or is that one long movie?

We came home expecting to be greeted with Ginger in tears, but nope- she was fast asleep in her crib and Paprika (still awake) was reading stories. Good end to a great night!
