Roses and Tea Parties!

4-24-13-3

Ginger is my resident horticulturalist. She is always digging, planting, pruning, and picking flowers for me! Here she is with her favorite rose bush. She can't stay away from it and spends hours with the roses - cutting them, arranging them, playing with them.

4-24-13-4

She never met a rose she didn't like. Every day she says: Today is Happy Rose Day!

We've had a lot of fun with science around here lately.  The past few days we've done dry ice experiments (photos to come).  Last week, Mr. M showed the girls his microscope from when he was a kid.  Paprika had been asking about the microscope for months, so when Grandma Pat came to visit, she brought it!

You would have thought it was Christmas, the girls were so excited!

Speaking of Grandma Pat!  She came down for a visit on Saturday.  The girls were so excited!  They did a lot in just that one day - including have a pretend picnic in the backyard!

4-24-13-2

And speaking of picnics, the girls have been setting up little pretend picnics in the backyard on a daily basis lately. The other day, it was so quiet in the backyard...and I looked outside and saw this:

A little impromptu tea party - what's more fun than that?!

A Little Insta-Fun!

1a

I have been a little addicted to Instagram lately.  My username is:  Erika_urthmama.  :-)

I have a bunch more Instapics I took recently - but this will do for now.  Haha.  And some regular pictures, too (because there's still that, right?)

My brother turned 18 last week (on April 18th, no less!) - here he is with his girlfriend at Prom on Saturday!

And a cellphone pic - because that's the way life is documented these days.  :-)

And this one just because:

prom

I signed up to Post Crossing (it's free) so that we can send and receive postcards from people around the world.  I figured it was a good way to teach the girls about geography - you know, getting letters and postcards from around the globe.

I couldn't find any postcards to send - so I made my own using this photo of our Pier that I took awhile ago.  You can just print out photos on cardstock, or use VistaPrint (which I did because it's easier and I don't have a color printer).  Just look for coupons online before you do because that really cuts down on the price!

Ginger having a little jam session - she loves to rock out on the xylophone.  I bought this thing when Paprika was like 6 weeks old - haha!

Scenic spot near Paprika's school - I wonder if it would be frustrating to be stuck inside a school all day with the beach just steps away?  Would you want to bust out and run to the sand?  I would!

Ginger and her roses - I am not sure if I've posted this one before, but I do love it.  ;-)
Whenever she picks roses, she always says:  Happy Rose Day!

Ginger reading to Violet:

Violet is CRAZY about all the Karen Katz "lift the flap" books - and she also loves the Touch and Feel books.  You could read them a thousand times to her and she would still ask for more.  This is why I delegate!  Ha!
