We did a little experiment recently with dry ice. By the end of it, the girls could explain to us the process of sublimation and they knew a little more about solid carbon dioxide. Mr. M majored in Chemistry in undergrad, so this was ALL KINDS of fun for him. Haha.
Mostly, though, the girls just had a blast checking out the dry ice and watching it sublimate. ;-)
You can see that Paprika was a little apprehensive at first, while Ginger was a little more adventurous:
I was all: Don't Touch That! And Mr. M was like: They're fine!
We got this dry ice from a place near us that only sells it in 15 pound blocks or higher - so we had a big cooler full of it. We had fun for days...
I remember when I was little, my dad brought home dry ice once, too (he was a scientist before he became a pastor). It was so fun play with dry ice back when I was a kid - some things never change!
You can see that Paprika eventually got more comfortable around it:
And then she used it to chase me around the house!
See?!
Baby Violet loved her little science lesson. I don't think she quite knew what to think at first...
But, of course, she HAD to inspect it...
And then she loved it!
The End!
