The Pledge

Last night during dinner, Paprika surprised me with this little thing. I haven't posted a video of her in awhile, so I thought I would. If you've been reading my blog for long, you know that Paprika memorizes things the first (or maybe second) time she hears them. She's kinda funny that way. I haven't posted a video of her at her current age (3 years old), so I figured it's about time!

I have been having a lot of fun looking through old videos of her at various ages:

Age 1: Singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Age 1: How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food

Age 2: Singing The Little Mermaid

Age 2: Reciting "The Big Honey Hunt"

I took the time to look at the videos you linked to. She's incredibly smart and cute. My daughter who just became a mom and is 21 now used to read books from memory all the time. Does Paprika love puzzles, too? Rebekah learned all her states and capitals at 2 because we put a US puzzle together with her. (It was for 5 and up.) Let me encourage you to keep up the good work.

Hi Erika,

Your blog is wonderful :)

I'm Katrina, and I saw your reply to Erin's blog post about sleeping babies, and I related to what you said about your 13 month old. I have pretty much done what you described with all of mine(nursing until they fall asleep, sleeping while attached to the breast, etc.) Right now my youngest just turned two...and she won't sleep well unless I'm lying next to her. She won't fall asleep unless she nurses to sleep. Yes, some might say that I've created a monster,LOL. But still...I can only compare to my older children....who all sleep very well on their own. They all sleep in their own beds, sleep through the night, and they were all exactly like my youngest at one time. So, while it's not ideal that my two year old needs me right now to sleep... for me and my lifestyle, it's o.k. I am not a mom who needs to wake up early to go to work. I am not a person who needs a lot of sleep. (I think if that were the case, I would definitely have trained them to sleep on their own -- there's nothing wrong with that!) But for me, well...this time passes so quickly. Soon they will be 4 and 5 and 15 and 19 years old and will be sleeping well on their own. I like this cuddle time. I want this cuddle time.

Erin was right when she said that we are all different and we all have different mom styles. I love that we can learn from each other, and also get support from each other when we learn of others who do "it" in a similar way :)

Blessings to you,
Katrina in CA
