Guess who's here?! Mr. M and I arrived at the hospital yesterday around 10am, and Pavenzia was born at 5:07 PM! Labor was pretty fast - she came out in one and a half good pushes! :-)
She is 8 pounds 1 oz, and 20 inches long. Apgars were 9/9! An overachiever from the start...haha.
She is soooo sweet, and cuddly, and just perfect. It is surreal to me that she is here, and she is our daughter and we get to take her home with us. Bliss!
I am still at the hospital recovering. While the birth went great, there were a few complicatons afterwards. Basically, I had a retained placenta (the placenta would not come out). After over an hour of the doctor trying to remove it manually, he finally got it out in a bunch of pieces. They did an ultrasound to make sure it was all out, and then I'll have to go in to the doctor again in a few weeks to make sure it really is all out.
So, Pavenzia's entrance was grand, smooth, and easy-peasy (well, as much as childbirth can be). The few hours that followed were rough and probably the worst pain of my life (right up there with giving birth without an epidural or pain meds). Imagine if someone had their whole hand/arm inside your body scraping your ribcage for an hour. It's actually the second time that's happened to me (it also happened during the delivery of the twins). I guess I hit the retained placenta lottery twice. ;-) But all is well that ends well, and I would do it a gazillion times over again to have her here in our arms.
Recovery is going a bit slowly for me. But hopefully things will get easier, and I will be back to my old self in no time. :-)
These are just a few of the photos we've taken over the last day. Isn't she soooo sweet? We are so in love, and so happy Pavenzia has made her entrance to the world safe and sound. Tomorrow she gets to meet her big sisters! :-) I can't wait to have Paprika, Ginger, and Paveniza all together under one roof. It makes me so happy that I can hardly believe it's happening. Such a dream, and a whole new chapter of life. Welcome to the world, Pavenzia!
