Yesterday we took the girls on a surprise trip to Disneyland! Devon was going with her girls, and so we met up with them there. I didn't tell Paprika about it beforehand because I knew if I did, she wouldn't be able to sleep the whole night before. I mean, when we told her about soccer the night before her first practice, she stayed awake in bed until 6am..and that was just soccer. So I knew that this could send her over the top.
It was hard to keep the secret from her, but I was so glad that I did. She got a great night's sleep and was well rested. When we told her in the morning where she was going and what she was doing, she was soooo excited she about jumped out of her skin.
Here is a picture from 2 years ago with Paprika and Miss Belle on the same Carousel at Disneyland. Isn't it amazing how much they've grown up? And I'm four months pregnant with Ginger in this picture! Memories!
But back to yesterday...I knew ahead of time that Miss Belle, Devon's oldest daughter, was having "the princess treatment" at the Bippity Boppity Boutique. It's a little beauty shop at Disneyland where they do little girls' hair and makeup and make them look like a princesses.
Well, their appointment was in the morning, and I knew we'd be arriving later (because we like to sleep in!)...so I just brought along a princess dress and crown for Paprika. That way when she saw Miss Belle, they could both play princess together. I also brought along some glitter for Paprika and sprinkled this special "fairy dust" on her. I think she felt really special and didn't miss out on the beauty salon thing one bit. She just wanted to be with Miss Belle and ride as many rides as possible...which we did!
It was great having Mr. Mustard there with us. He had a lot of fun, too!
Ginger's favorite ride was the Carousel. She wanted to ride it over and over again, and she could because there wasn't a line. She wanted to sit up on the horse all by herself (of course), and kept pushing my hand away when I tried to hold on to her.
When we finally got off the Carousel, she had to hug and kiss and pet every single horse around us. She kept saying, "Hoss!!! Hoss!!!" (Horse! Horse!). It was really cute!
Devon and her family left in the late afternoon, so we said goodbye to our friends and stayed to ride a little while longer.
It was great riding together as a family- I am so grateful for these times we get to spend together. It was a lot of fun, and I know the girls had a great time.
All in all, a great day was had by all at the Magic Kingdom! I quite like springing surprises like this on Paprika and Ginger. They always appreciate it so much and it brings a big smile to their faces! Does it get any better than that?
