The Requarium!

1-13-11-13-800

We are now in mid-January, my favorite time of the year for visiting museums and the like. I don't know if everyone is just tired from the holidays or what, but it is empty at all of favorite places...places that a month ago were bursting at the seams with people.

Yesterday we went to The Aquarium (or as Paprika calls it, the Requarium), and we had the whole place to ourselves. Paprika couldn't wait to reach right in and pet the sharks. (Thankfully, they don't bite!)

Ginger soon followed Paprika's lead (of course!):

Paprika got to see her favorite animal in the whole Aquarium...the diver! She always gets such a kick out of watching the divers. I see scuba lessons in her future! (The very distant future, thank you very much!)

We saw the jellyfish, one of my favorites!

Ginger thought they were pretty cool, too!

Of course Ginger's favorite thing was running through the Aquarium. She is faster than most three year olds. I'm not kidding. There was a lady there with her 17 month old son (who was three inches shorter than Ginger), and she was floored at how fast Ginger is. It's unbelievable.

Needless to say, this was my view for most of the trip.

One thing that was really cute was when Ginger kept going up to the little 17 month old boy and hugging on him. She just wanted to hug him, and followed him around, and would not leave him alone. It was adorable and made me think we need to get Ginger some friends her own age. She loves babies so much!

When she wasn't running, she stopped to look at the fish, and even occasionally let me hold her for a second or two.

Paprika made friends with the octopus:

And we had a great time peering into the big blue tanks:

Of course, we had to visit the Lorikeet sanctuary and get up close and personal with our feathered friends.

Ginger loved them, but didn't want to get too close.

Paprika wanted so badly for the birds to crawl all over her and kept saying to them, "Hop on to my arm. It's no so bad!"

We were cracking up over that.

Come on, hop on my arm. It's not so bad!

She eventually got a few to perch on her finger. In the end, she was content to feed them and have little talks with them.

Ginger missed her nap, so she fell asleep in the car on the ride home. I will never be able to look at her sleeping enough times. To me, it is the sweetest thing.

The End.

Fun times. My faves at the aquarium are the jelly fish (love the rasta ones in "Shark Tales"), seahorses and must see the penguins!!!
It's official, Ginger's chin is as cute as her nose ;)
Haven't seen her in a hat in awhile. Has she made it a fad and moved on? Tres Chic Bebe
