First Week of 2011!

1-5-11-4-800

In this first week of 2011, we have been busy. I feel a bit like a cliche, really, because we seem to be doing the same things that everybody else is doing. Cleaning out our closets. Getting rid of things that need to go. Eliminating clutter. Packing up the holiday things.

Oh yes, and doing our double bathroom remodels that seem to go on forever and ever and ever. Pictures soon, I promise!

In the in-between times, we are enjoying time spent together. We have a very prolific orange tree in our backyard, and it has allowed us to make fresh squeezed orange juice by the pint. We are getting spoiled!

Ginger wants to help pick the oranges. I think she's a little too young to be climbing up ladders, though!

Paprika went back to Pre-K yesterday (she goes 3 days/week). She was so excited to be back amongst all her school friends. It's great that she's in the afternoon class because it means she gets to hang out in her jammies all morning.

Mr. Mustard finished up working with Paula Abdul and is now on The Amazing Race. His hours on the Race are really weird, so that's an adjustment. But it's actually a schedule that I love and that fits our family pretty well. No complaints here.

We have been hanging out around the house, and even watching some movies together. Paprika discovered Toy Story this week, and that's all she wants to talk about now.

I rented her Toy Story 2 from Netflix and she watched it for the first time tonight. Now all she can talk about is "Jaxie" (Jessie). I surprised her by picking up the dolls from the movie at Target today, so now she loves acting out the whole story. It's really fun.

Ginger has been so much fun lately (she's always fun, but the bigger she gets, the more fun she gets, too!)

Tonight while we were eating dinner, she really wanted the hummus container. So, I let her have it. I know Mr. Mustard would not approve, but I just had to indulge her!

She had the best time playing with her food, and made such a mess. Afterwards, she had a nice, long, warm bath and was back to her old self!

I mean, how fun is it to be 18 months and pour hummus on your head? Whoever said that youth is wasted on the young never met this girl! Ha!

Hey, Erika!
I love the pictures of Ginger and the hummus. Ha! :) I love hummus too.

I've been reading your blog for a while now and decided to comment for the first time.

The reason I chose to comment was because. . . I'm in CA! :) And, baby! I think it's warm!! (I live in Minnesota, so hey! If the trees are green. . .it's warm. Trust me.)
I enjoy looking at the pictures on your blog and just wanted to pop in and say hi!

You are a brave soul with the hummus! It sounds like something I would do-I usually let Brennan do whatever crazy activity he wants to:) You're only a kid once, right?! Paprika sounds so much like Brennan, he acts out everything! He watches Cars (and owns them all x2!) and he acts out the whole movie while watching it. Which is part of the reason I let him watch more than I should-that's his playing. Cute pictures, as always:)

You're the coolest mom ever! Ginger looks like she had a great time playing with the hummus.

I don't think Ginger could be any cuter if she tried (or that she could get any more hummus on herself!)

My favorite is the shot of Paprika acting out with her dolls. She has quite the imagination and her face shows just what serious business this is!

Love the Toy Story picture with Paprika and her toys. Toy Story 3 is a gem too.

What can I say, I LOVE Ginger Sunshine and her spontaneous spa moves. Full speed ahead with life!

Great work capturing 2 "forever moments in your heart" on film!

Thankyou for sharing them too.

I've only looked at them 4 or 5 times. It ranks right up there with Paprika on her swing and Ginger in her pumpkin hat.(still the cutest button nose I've ever seen)

Those hummus pics are THE BEST! You are a fun mom and those girls are so lucky to have you.

I totally thought about you with my post today Erika! In fact one of the reasons I was nervous to post it is because I know there are so many women out there (like you) who have had to endure so much worse than I ever have. I think it gets harder and harder to trust God and know "things happen for a reason" the harder your trails are for sure. I will always be so sorry for your loss - I can't even imagine all you've been through. You are a total inspiration to me. You are living life to the fullest and being such a darling mommy to your girls here on earth despite the pain you feel each day missing your other daughters. I really look up to you.

xoxo

p.s. On a happier note, aren't California fruit trees the best!!?? :)
