Last of the Halloweenies!

10-32-10-6-800

I took all these photos on the evening before Halloween. The girls got dressed up in their matching Halloween pajamas. There was a lot of orange going on!

It was also the night I took this next photo, which is one of my favorite photos I have ever taken. I just love it so much I had to post it again. Whew! Glad I got that out of my system!

When I took that picture, Paprika kept saying, "I want to touch the clouds! I will grab them! Just a little bit higher and I'll reach the clouds."

It was a precious moment I always want to remember and when I see that photo, it makes me think of her saying that.

The day was mostly just a lot of us playing around in the backyard. We had gone to Target earlier in the day to buy last minute Halloween supplies...oh, and hair dye. I can't remember if it was the blonde dye (that really did turn out a horrible shade of tangerine- but I knew that would happen, right?), or if it was the second trip to Target, when I bought the brown dye in the same color my hair was before I ever started.

My hair looks the same now as it did before I ever started coloring it...all's well that ends well, right? I don't think I was meant to be a blonde.

That weekend we also had some friends over - Paprika's best friend from the summer and her family. Paprika and her friend played hard together because they hadn't seen each other in a month. It was a squeal overload filled with dress-up, pretend birthday parties, and lots of running.

I was glad on this night to have the quiet of my two, and to get to spend time just focusing on them and making them laugh.

We always find a way to have a great time together, even (or maybe especially) in the simple moments.

Ginger was obsessed with the tea set and wanted to carry the cups with her everywhere. She also wanted to swing just as high as Paprika in the swings. This girl likes adventure!

And so does this one...

And then after we were done swinging and playing, Ginger had to go back to the tea set and play some more.

In the middle of all this, we made cookies together. Paprika wanted to bake all last week. We made cookies on this day, and pumpkin spice cake the day before. Of course, Paprika wanted to goof around a bit before we started...

And then that "hat" turned into a drum...and both Paprika and Ginger had a little drum circle going before I knew it!

10-32-10-13-800

Then, we got down to the business of baking, and Paprika had to be chief mixer...

10-32-10-12-800

And her mixing turned into dancing, of course!

I guess it was just one of those simple days I want to remember - if I had to pick a day to relive just once, I don't think it would be a grand day. It would be a day just like this one...

Does it get any better than this?

Sweet pictures of two sweet girls.

I hope you make a print of her on the swing, frame it and hang it on her wall. Then she can relive the feeling every time she looks at it. Joy, freedom, belly tickle giggles from pumping to go higher and higher. It's a wonderful inspirational photo. It's a good daydream photo too. Thanks for posting it. I've had a few bumpy moments and it's helped.
