And Just Like That...

It's November! We've been playing outside until dark, swinging high on the swingset, bundling up when the temp goes down at night, staying in jammies till noon, and having pretend sleepovers in the living room.

Yesterday was my favorite shopping day of the year. The Day After Halloween. Oh, you didn't know that it's a shopping day? It is for us. We hit the Halloween Superstore and Target and raided their super clearance Halloween costumes. We have lots of new dress-up material...enough to last us until next Halloween!

I've had a hard time convincing Paprika that Halloween is over. I've been hyping up Thanksgiving. Ahhh, distraction! So far, it's working. Sorta.

This time of year is always one of great reflection. I keep thinking about how two years ago I was pregnant with Ginger at this time. I was so very scared and worried that she would not make it. And here she is...getting bigger every day. She is an amazing child and each day I wonder how we got so lucky with her.

And, of course, I also think about Vivian and Annemarie and wonder what they would be doing now. I wonder about the secrets they would share, the relationship they would have with Paprika, and what our lives would look like if they were here. I know that it's not great to go to those places in my mind. I just still miss them so much, and I think sometimes people think I've forgotten about them. But I haven't. It's so very bittersweet.

Sounds like a really nice time of the year in your household (but then again, you guys always seem to be really taking advantage of special times together). That's great about the costumes. Very clever idea!

It's natural to both enjoy where you are now, but wonder how things would have been different. The girls will never be forgotten, nor should they be, and I'm glad you are able to really enjoy Ginger and the special relationship she has with Paprika. Her little face, her little smile, and how she and Paprika have such a special bond is adorable. It's so nice that you write it down and keep record of these special moments between the girls.
