Back From A Long Trip

10-9-10-11-800

We just got back into LA a few hours ago and I am logging onto the internet for the first time in nine days. It has been an emotional and very hard trip. My Grandpa passed away a week and a day ago, just ten hours before our flight arrived in Indy. I missed the chance to say goodbye to him. I know he knows how much I love him and how much he means to me.

It has been a very hard week, to say the least. I miss my Grandpa so very much, and I hope I can be a support to my Grandma and the rest of our family. He is so deeply missed and we love him so very much.

These are photos I took of Ginger a few weeks ago. I haven't had moment yet to upload ay new photos (I really didn't take many during our time in Indy anyway). I am posting these photos for my Grandma, because I know she reads my blog every day (hi Grandma!) and I want to put a smile on her face, if even only for a few moments. I love you, Grandma!

More later...it's been a very long day of travel.

xoxo,
Erika

I'm so, so sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandpa. I'm sure he knows how much you love him. It's hard not getting there in time to say goodbye. I didn't get there in time to say goodbye to my grandfather, who passed away 2 years ago, just before C was born.

While away last weekend, my mother and grandmother looked at me and said about C, "He looks so much like Granddad and has so many of his mannerisms." I really would love for my Granddad to have met C, but even more, would love for C to have met him, but what I can do now is to tell stories to my kids about him, and teach them the stuff that he loved. I know your heart is still freshly broken, but I hope that it helps heal it by celebrating what a wonderful man he was and carrying on traits you love about him, and things that he loved about this world.

We're thinking of you and your family.

The picture of Ginger are precious as always.

Love,
Nat

I am so sorry for the loss of your Grandpa, Erika, and for your family's loss. I can tell he was so loved and cherished and suspect what I read here is only scratching the surface.

It isn't easy losing someone we love so dearly and grieving that loss away from family can be a unique and difficult experience. Know that you are thought of often and if there is anything at all that I can do, I am close by.

Much love and big hugs.

I'm so sorry to read about your loss. I lost my grandmother two years ago and I know how heartbreaking that is.

Wishing you peace.

Erika,
So sorry to hear such a special man in your life is no longer here. Your Grandma is a darling and I hope she finds her strength to carry her through the fog, fatigue and heartache of missing her sweetheart. I have a feeling her grandaughter and great grandaughters will be of help there. Prayers and God's Blessing to your Grandma, and all of your family. Loved ones are no longer physically here but I do know they listen with their hearts from heaven and are ever present for us. I talk to my Daddy everyday.
It always starts with "Daddy, I love and miss you so... here's what I've been doing since you journeyed on. Thankyou for all the love and joy you still send me daily. I love you forever and always. I'm still so thankful you were my Daddy.

About the pictures of Ginger:

I love her poodle hugs, they're as sweet as her pug nose.

Oh Erika! I'm so sorry to hear that about your grandpa. You have had a rough year. :(

Those pictures would make anyone smile. She is simply beautiful just like her mommy.

Thinking of you during this difficult time.
