More House Hunting

Ginger and I spent this morning house hunting with our agent while Paprika was at preschool. I've stopped taking pictures of the houses, although I should and submit them to the Ugly House Pictures Blog.

We saw three houses today and they were all major duds. Major.

Here is a picture of one of the houses we saw today. This is the backyard. The listing described the backyard as beautiful, shaded, and enormous. Does this backyard look either beautiful, shaded or enormous to you? Actually, come to think of it, the backyard actually was the best part of the house...by far.

I'm staring to get really really really tired of the housing search. Everything in our price range is awful. Everything great is out of our price range. I cry about it more than I should. I just want a nice place in Los Angeles with a yard and a great school district- a place for our girls to grow up and have good memories of their childhood. Is that too much to ask?

I know I should not complain about it. I am just so ready to get out of our townhouse. It is getting me down more than it should. We'll find something eventually. I know we will. Until then, I will try not to complain about it too much and keep looking!

11 Weeks!

9-3-09-small-1

Ginger is 11 weeks old today. She is so awake these days...she barely naps or sleeps! She is wide awake most of the time, which is a big change from when she was first born and slept all the time. She sleeps for a six hour stretch at night, which is really nice. And when she's awake, she is generally really happy...as long as I'm holding her!

Ginger is definitely a mama's girl. Nothing can calm her like being in mommy's arms. I'm not complaining! After all I went through to carry her for 9 months, I should hope that she prefers me! ;-)

She loves to "talk" to us in her baby voice- she has a lot to say. She can mimic back "hello" to Mr. Mustard, just as Paprika did. We may have an early talker on our hands...just like her big sister.

I imagine all the wonderful conversations Ginger and Paprika will have. Very exciting stuff.

Happy 11 Weeks, Ginger! You are our treasure!

Updates

Well, surprise surprise, we didn't get the house. Our offer of asking price wasn't accepted. It went for $33K over asking (we went in at asking price). We didn't even get a chance to counteroffer. Grrrr. On to the next one!

Here are a few pics of us hanging out in our house, avoiding the smoke from the fire. I am so ready for the air to be clean and clear again!

Our New House?

We made an offer on this house last night. Long story short, yesterday afternoon my agent asked me if I wanted to see it. I took Paprika and Ginger over there at 3:30pm. I thought it was pretty cute, and had a decent backyard. I thought Mr. Mustard should see it.

Then, the seller's agent said that all offers had to be in by 8pm last night. Mr. Mustard had to work, so there was no way he would be able to see it in time. So, we made the decision to make an offer on it without Mr. Mustard ever having seen it. If our offer gets accepted, and he sees the property and doesn't like it, we will be able to back out of the deal (we have lots of contingencies).

I think there may be multiple offers on the property, so I am not sure our offer will be accepted.

Now we wait...

Hiding Out

We are still hiding out from the fires by staying indoors at home. It's turning out to be the worst fire in the history of Los Angeles county. It is super smoky, and if you're outside for more than a minute or two, it is very hard to breathe. We're hoping that the fire is contained soon...it's overwhelming everyone right now...the lives lost...the destruction...it's one of those things that you can't imagine how bad it is unless you're here in Los Angeles right now. Our prayers go out to the families of those who have lost loved ones, and to the people whose homes have been destroyed.
